It's possible to fly an airliner using X-Plane 11 for free. I've seen tutorials on the Internet where people say it's possible, but I didn't believe them without proof. So, like any good engineer, I decided to build my own proof of concept flight simulator to show how it's done. That's right - you can now fly a Boeing 737 or Airbus A320 for free in your computer with X-Plane 11! No plugins are needed because our scenery is already integrated into the simulator itself. So, how did I achieve this? After researching and testing several different X-Plane aircraft and after over a month of working with the development team, here's the final result. Step 1. Buy or build an empty Boeing 737 or Airbus A320. The simulator needs to have the empty planes you are not gonna use in it so you don't have to pay for them. It's also easy since they are available in most airports around the world! Here are links to some websites that can provide them:Step 2. Download the FlyJSim 727 V2 scenery. This is a freely available scenery for X-Plane 11 that has high quality X-Plane 11 models of most airports in the world, including all major airports in North America, Europe and most Asian countries. It comes with high resolution textures and is totally free for personal use. Step 3. Download the FlyJSim 737/A320 Addon package. Included in the package are special FlyJSim liveries for our aircraft and a website link to get even more free liveries from our developer partners. The package also comes with several other important files you'll need later on to make it work. Step 4. Decide how to integrate the FlyJSim 727 V2 scenery with the empty Boeing 737 or Airbus A320. We decided to make our livery of the plane's fuselage transparent, so you can still see through it while flying in X-Plane 11. This means that you will have to choose the plane's exterior color carefully, but it also means that you can get rid of liveries you don't like very easily, by replacing them with your own uploaded texture files for instance! Step 5. Download and install SimVimConnect so you can interact with X-Plane 11 using our free FlyJSim 737/A320 addon package. The addon package contains a special control panel, just like the one you have in the real aircraft. It allows you to interact with X-Plane 11 using a standard USB joystick and footpedals, just like a real Boeing 737 or Airbus A320. Step 6. Download and install FlyJSim 737/A320 Free Autopilot add-on for X-Plane 11. This add-on adds realistic autopilot functionality to our planes for free, so you can actually autopilot from takeoff to landing with them!
